Started the day on a trail that’s for bikes. but it’s an awful the trail to actually bike on. The trail even had a detour on a really bad gravel road.Once I got off the trail, the ride to the base of the pass was actually quite pleasant. In the town of Victor I sat in a rocking chair on Main Street and enjoyed the goings on.I stayed in a national forest campground, The trails creek, at the base of the pass
.I was instantly greeted by the camp host who took on the responsibility of taking care of me because he saw I was traveling on a bicycle. Alan started a fire for me and gave me a burger and a half pint of ben and Jerry’s ice cream. He also went on to tell all of the guests that were coming in that I was biking, cross country. I appreciated his care and concern.
The rest of the story is Al started by giving me just the firewood.I have a can of beans, two pieces of cheese and a uncooked hamburger patty.I had no spatula, and uh, no the real way of getting a fire started. Then he came over to check on me. He realized his mistake and made the fire for me and provided me a spatula.
Al is an eccentric older gentleman who was traveling the country with his dog, lola. Never been married or had a partner. He told me his dog is his only partner. He was traveling the country in his bus and decided to stop and be a camp host for the summer.
It was a peaceful and quiet evening. because the the road over the pass was closed. I am reminded how noisy cars and trucks are as they travel.Cost takes on a different meaning. On a bicycle. I was shopping for some lunch meat and there were two options. One was a pound, one was eight ounces, and they both cost a little over four dollars. I went with the smaller package because it only weighed eight ouncesl

Love hearing about your adventures! Safe travels
I liked how you cooked your hamburger right on the grill.
Good luck with your adventure!!
That bike trail looks like it was part of the original Oregon trail.
