My first night in Ontario Canada was fabulous. The site was beautiful, the river was perfect for swimming and I had a good night of sleep.
I have to admit, the next day of biking in Ontario was difficult. Not bad just difficult. The first half of the day I was fighting a headwind and having to concentrate due to no shoulders on the road. The second half of the day was very warm with temperatures in the high 80s and no shade. I also ended up biking. 92 miles for the day.
It was in this context that I much appreciated the special kindness of strangers. Outside a convenience store, gentlemen offered me an ice cream treat. Yum a Klondike Bar. He hed talked with me and walked away, then he turned back and declared.” you know what? I’m gonna give you an ice cream treat”
Next I had stopped by the road and was sitting in the grass leaning against the entry stonework of another gentleman’s residence. He noticed I was there and came up to made sure I was okay and filed my water bottles with ice water.
The third gentleman was the owner of the Natterjack Brewery. I had stopped outside his brewery to try out a Baos meat snack at their food truck. Boy that was delicious. I went inside the brewery, to see if I could get my water bottle filled. I didn’t see any place to do that. So I turned around and was leaving when the brewery owner called me out and asked, what can I do for you? Can I fill up your water bottle? We talked about my trip as he filled my water bottles. He then offered me a free root beer after I said, I didn’t like beer. It really was the best root beer.Every day it seems I am helped by the kindness of strangers.
As an aside, i started out my day being greeted by the resident cat. She wanted to join me on my ride.

May you continue to have happy interactions with the residents of our provinces and make beautiful memories on your coast to coast ride 😀
Glad God is leading you to meet some good people. Seems that at the rate you are going, your trip will be over in no time.
I loved the kindness of people on my ride across America. I’m so glad you are experiencing the same.
It strikes me, James, has such a small act of kindness by someone, like to fill your water bottles, make such an impression on you. It doesn’t take much to brighten someone’s day. hang in there!
I lie about my nationality when traveling. I’m Canadian in spirit. Great tales James. Greetings from #fabulousfennville
