Happy to leave Indiana

Sorry, Mike Pence, but I have to say I’m happy to leave the state of Indiana.

Their DNR campground didn’t that make me feel very welcome. When I arrived, there was nobody working to check in so I set up camp in an empty campsite. 1 hour later a worker shows up telling me that I had to both pay and move to a new site. Those are the rules, sir was her reply. The part about paying was fine. She seemed overworked and unhappy.

The state of the bike trails was bad. Giant puddles blocked the trail in many places for over three miles. They were almost impassable. I did enjoy lthe dunes beach and noted it was a multi hour wait for drivers to get in.

Lastly, as the trail, dumped me back out on to a busy highway i had what I would call a rabid teenage boy stick his head out the window and bark at me. This is very disruptive and scary for me and something I had not seen since idaho.

An interesting juxtaposition, I i met Richard just one mile into Michigan. He was biking along the same road I was on. Once he noted I was biking cross country, he asked if  I wanted help getting through the first 15 miles. When I said yes, he  changed his ride so that he could bike with me on that stretch. I would not have been able to find the excellent route myself. Thanks Richard. BTW Richard lives in indiana. There are good people everywhere.

Awesome to warm our hands over ride stories. Appreciate the inspiration, we loved hosting.

    Be well.
