Island for misfit toys on the crippled spider ranch

I spent my fourth of july evening at a place called The Crippled Spider Ranch. RV Park and Campground.
On Airbnb they called it Sheep Camp.
“Feel refreshed when you stay in this rustic gem. …… Historic shepherds wagon is ready for your stay!”
I think I would call this place.  the island of misfit toys. Both for humans and animals. If you don’t remember, this is from rudolph.the Red Nosed reindeer. In the end, if I remember right, it is a place we’re all alert. Loved and accepted for who they are?

They have Buffalo horses, sheep
lonnghorn cattle, goats chickens turkeys guinea hens ducks rams and others

I hung out with Wyatt, the owner and
Lisa and jimmy around a fire as they were eating corn on the COB over a fire and chicken from the grill, which they offered me along with a fresca. I came over because I thought they could help me get my bike tire back on over the wheel. Yes I  had a flat tire. Yes, they helped.

Wyatt , the owner, seemed to be a
cranky old man. My first impression of him was  he is not very helpful as he seems too busy to answer any questions. It was not a welcoming start to my stay.  His tone was gruff, his answers were short, and then he was gone. It turns out his demeanor is rough as his voice is raspy due to a lifetime of smoking. I found out he is generous and cares about people deeply. He could work on his first impressions for sure though.

Lisa is a salty woman who looks and sounds like she’s lived a hard life. She talks like a sailor. She grew up in rhode island, moved to florida to become a commercial fisherman. When her house, and work were  wiped out by two hurricanes. she gave up the fishing business and moved to wyoming three years ago, because her sister was here. She laughs easily, also has a raspie.Boston accent. She has a care and concern for all of the animals on the property.

Jimmy is a handsome but disheveled, twenty year old kid. He has a huge wide smile with crooked teeth with a welcoming demeanor. He is very helpful both to the guests and to wyatt. He is capable and willing to do just about anything. Six months ago, he bought a trailer and moved to this rv park. A week later, he had a job there and he is liked by all.

Who has ever heard of the Wind River Canyon? I i hadn’t. Ii biked through thru the wind river canyon today, and I had no idea that that’s what I was going to do. It was absolutely amazing to all of a sudden be biking through a beautiful canyon.

I talked to a rancher yesterday who told me that all of these ranches in this area, it used to be native land but during the nineteen forties, native people could sell their land.

I finally got to sit in a hot spring.
In thermolopolis
The hot spring is free because of an 1896 treaty. Between the shosani and arapaho, tribes in the united states, government. They wanted their tribe members and all people to be able to enjoy the spa for free.

All of this happened on a full and fulfilling fourth of july. It was also reassuring to know that my wife daughter, her partner and my grandson. We’re all having fun at a water park in Minneapolis for the weekend
I finished off the day by watching Wyatt and Jimmy from my sheep’s hut window shoot off some fireworks.

James, your descriptions of and insights in to people are impressive and interesting. Nice block! I had heard of the winter River Valley, but have not been there. I’m glad you got to experience all that. If I were you, I would’ve wanted to have stayed on that comfortable bed in that cute little camper.

That is true. It is hard to leave some of these places. However, if I had not left the crippled spider campground, I would not have experienced the rodeo.
